Sanitary Service Company (SSC) was a prime sponsor of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County Annual Breakfast, held October 28 in the Bellis Fair Mall Food Court. The early morning fundraiser, which attracted nearly 650 people, featured nationally-acclaimed motivational speaker Mike Segal and Vang Le, the 2010 Washington Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year. Le, a student at WWU, spoke about his experience as a Bellingham Boys & Girls Club member, crediting the staff at the Bellingham chapter of the Boys & Girls Club for helping him turn his life around when he was younger and then cope with the loss of his mother when he was in high school.

Local businessman, Elie Samuel, of Samuel's Fine Furniture, was honored with the Outstanding Community Supporter award for his help in getting a renewed Ferndale chapter and new building off the ground.

The event raised over $88,000 with all proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County. For more information visit http://www.whatcomclubs.org/.
