Ask SSC Q: Can broken/shattered glass be recycled?
A: Dear Sarah,
While glass is recyclable, for safety reasons, we prefer that broken or shattered glass be bagged or placed inside an empty carton (milk/juice) or box and discarded as garbage. Cracked or chipped glass bottles and jars are accepted for recycling.
Glass Bottle & Jar Prep Reminders
All colors accepted. Labels & caps OK. Remove caps. Place loose in bin or Toter®.
NO Window/plate glass, drinking glasses/mugs, pitchers, windshields, light bulbs, mirrors, fluorescent tubes, ceramics, pottery, Pyrex® or other baking dishware, or insulation.
