Ask SSC Q: What do I do with a non-working microwave and old toaster oven?
A: Dear Myron and Kathleen,
SSC accepts microwave ovens, toaster ovens and similar metal-based small appliances for recycling as scrap metal at our Drop-Off Recycling Center / Transfer Stations only. Smaller appliances like toaster ovens are also accepted as scrap metal in our curbside recycling program. Larger microwaves are not.
For Drop-Off Recycle Center locations and info click here. Hours vary so please call first. Recycling fee charged.
Small appliances that cannot be recycled as scrap metal, can be recycled as electronic waste (e-waste). Fee charged. More info here.
