Q: What holiday leftovers can go in my FoodPlus! Toter?

A: Dear Autumn,

All holiday food leftovers, including turkey carcasses, plus fall yard debris/plant materials are accepted in our FoodPlus! program, including:

  • Leaves/Branches
  • Floral Trimmings, Houseplants
  • Expired Floral Arrangements
  • Waxed Floral Paper/Cardboard
  • Seasonal Greens (Pumpkins, Cornstalks, Hay, Gourds, Garlands, Wreaths, Swags, etc.)

There are several options for dealing with extra FoodPlus! materials. Rates may vary slightly depending on where you live in Whatcom County.

Option 1 — Sign up for an additional Toter®. Cost: Low monthly rate dependent on where you live in Whatcom County.

Option 2 — Set out extra material in paper or compostable bag(s) (Max. size: 30 gal). Cost: $2.50/bag. You can find large “Yard Debris” or “Leaf” bags at local home improvement and garden centers.

Bulky Items: Bulky material that will not fit in FoodPlus Toters® should be cut to 4’ lengths, tied in bundles (max. weight 50 lbs.) and set next to FoodPlus Toter®. Charges for bulky material apply. Please contact us for questions.

For questions or more information, please contact us or call (360) 734-3490. Thank you.
