Q: I have glass from old picture frames. Can I put it in my curbside glass recycling bin?

Dear Doreen,

Picture frame glass, also referred to as plate glass, and similar breakable items like ceramic dishware, drinking glasses, mirrors, PYREX, window glass and lightbulbs are not accepted in our curbside recycling program. Please wrap in newspaper then place in a plastic bag in your trash.

Plate glass, and other non food and beverage container glass, melts at a different temperature than container glass and can't be separated once mixed in the recycling stream.

We accept all colors of food and beverage glass bottles and jars (plus lids, labels and caps) for recycling.

  • Please remove lids and caps and place loose in recycling container. Avoid breaking glass.
  • Rinse bottles and jars clean.
  • Reminder: Bottles must be removed from 6-pak and half case boxes, etc. before recycling.
