Ask SSC How to dispose of carpet and carpet padding
Q: Can I put old carpet, padding, and carpet tacking in my garbage container to be picked up? If not where can I dispose of these items. Thank you!
A: Dear Elizabeth,
Carpet, padding and tacking are not accepted for recycling at this time in our area. Please dispose of these items in your garbage Toter® if they fit and the lid can be closed. If you have a small amount, but it is too bulky to fit in Toter®, contact us to schedule a curbside pick-up on your regular collection day. Extra fees apply. For larger volumes, or items too large for curbside pick-up, use our You Call—We Haul junk hauling service or visit one of our three transfer stations. Details on all options are below:
Curbside Pickup—Exact rate depends on item and size. Contact us or call (360) 734-3490 for estimate.
SSC Recycling Centers/Transfer Stations—Items are accepted for a small fee. Hours vary. Please call first. For a complete list of accepted items click here.
You Call We Haul—junk hauling service. A variety of items are accepted including appliances, furniture and electronics. No minimum charge. Weekend service is available. Please contact us for an estimate or to schedule a pick-up. More info here. Thank you.
