Ask SSC FoodPlus! options for handling extra yard debris
Q: We subscribe to FoodPlus!, but during certain times of the year we have a lot of yard waste. Any options for extra material?
A: Dear Jason,
There are several options for dealing with extra FoodPlus! materials. Rates may vary slightly depending on where you live in Whatcom County.
Option 1 — Sign up for an additional Toter®. Cost: Low monthly rate dependent on where you live in Whatcom County. Use the additional Toter®(s) during summer and then cancel the extra(s) when no longer needed. You can do this as often as you like. Extra FoodPlus! Toter®(s) can be handy during the holiday season too.
Option 2 — Set out extra material in paper or compostable bag(s) (Max. size: 30 gal). Cost: $2.50/bag. You can find large “Yard Debris” or “Leaf” bags at local home improvement and garden centers.
Bulky Items: Bulky material that will not fit in FoodPlus Toters® should be cut to 4’ lengths, tied in bundles (max. weight 50 lbs.) and set next to FoodPlus Toter®. Charges for bulky material apply. Please contact us for questions.
